Constituent Services

The most important part of my job as a state representative is assisting and advocating for the people of the 20th Middlesex District. I care deeply about the concerns and views of my constituents, and I appreciate the chance to get to know them better at every opportunity. As your Representative, I want to make sure your government is working for you and your rights are respected. If you have an issue that you need some assistance with, or if you would like to share your position on a particular state legislative topic, please do not hesitate to contact me and my staff. If we are unable to help you directly, we will try to point you in the right direction.

While I cannot require an agency to make a specific determination on your behalf, I am happy to assist you with cutting the red tape and getting the answers to your questions. My office can serve as a liaison between my constituents and the state government.

In order for my office to assist you it is necessary, under the Privacy Act of 1974, to be granted permission in writing by you in order to contact the appropriate state agencies on your behalf. The purpose of this Act is to protect your individual rights by prohibiting the release of personal information to unauthorized parties. The written request should be addressed to Representative Brad Jones and should state that you give permission to me to make contacts on your behalf. Your request may be in the form of a letter or by completing the Privacy Act found at the bottom of this page. Additionally, please be sure to state the details of your problem and what you would like me to do on your behalf as I cannot take action on your behalf without the specifics of your concern. Include any documentation that may help to build your case.

If you are not a resident of my district, I encourage you to contact your own representative (http://www.mass.gov/legis/city_town.htm). It is a longstanding courtesy that each elected official be allowed to assist his or her own constituents. Your representative will also know the additional resources that may be available to you in your home town.

Please note that I am not permitted to give legal advice or suggestions to my constituents. Therefore, you are having legal troubles or have an outstanding court case I encourage you to contact the Greater Boston Legal Service Boston Office at 617-371-1234 for assistance.

If your problem involves the federal government or one of its agencies, you may wish to contact your federal representatives. To find out who is your state and/or federal representative I encourage you to visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website at http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php

There are several ways to reach me. One Friday every month, you can find me or a member of my staff hosting office hours in Reading, North Reading, Middleton and Lynnfield. Office hours provide an opportunity to meet with constituents face-to-face.

If you are unable to attend office hours, or need to contact me immediately, you may call or e-mail me directly. You may also send me a question or comment through this Web site by visiting the Contact page.

Sometimes, we receive calls from constituents who are interested in getting information about a particular bill. To search the state's Web site for specific legislation, please click here:
